The yearly Summer and Fall street festival circuit returns to downtown. Returning for its fifth year, Raleigh Wide Open 5 will go down on Saturday, July 31st on Fayetteville and adjacent streets in Downtown Raleigh. This year, the day long festival, which runs from 11am-11pm, has an extreme sports theme and will feature BMX, Motorcross, a Fire Circus, a Beer and Wine Tasting Festival, tons of local vendors and 21 bands on four stages (oh, and Barenaked Ladies).
The Cherry Bounce Fest will again be a part of the festivities that day as well as Thursday and Friday. While we still wish that the reopening of Hillsborough Street (which will be happening very soon, September 25th) was the main focus of this year’s RWO, this looks like another great day full of fun and pedestrian traffic for downtown businesses.

So… No free show to cap it off. Last year was Delbert McClinton. (Free) If I’m not mistaken, Eddie Money was @ the 1st one.(also Free)... Now, no free show… From a nationaly know act anyway. Thanks to the new amphitheater. Well, you can pay to see Barenaked Ladies.
RESERVED SEATING
US $40.50 - US $52.50
LAWN-GENERAL ADMISSION
US $28.00
Yeah - I am excited to go to this (been to 3 of the last 4 RWO) but am dissapointed to see they are trying to claim the Barenaked Ladies as part of RWO 5 when it is a stand alone concert that you have to pay for. It really isn’t a part of RWO. They do have the fireworks to end the event but it is strange not to have a headlining act end the event on stage on the south end of Fayetteville Street.
Guess there weren’t enough other acts that were free…can’t please them all
In communist Russia, the band pays YOU.
Personally, I would either go to RWO or I won’t. The fact that the BNL is charging admission for a separate event that has nothing to do with RWO won’t make a difference.
But that’s just me.
i love raleigh
north raleigh guy… i think i love you.
um the “World” stage isn’t very worldly….
What the heck do the asterisks mean?
I apologise, but it does not approach me. Who else, what can prompt?
