Raleigh’s DesignCorps Featured in 2008 Venice Biennale

DesignCorps, a design/build organization that focuses on community design and planning for low-income rural areas, has been selected for exhibition in the US pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale. The exhibit is entitled Into the Open: Positioning Practice. DesignCorps will be featured along with 15 other US practitioners.

DesignCorps is a non-profit organization founded by Bryan Bell in 1999. It is operated in Raleigh, NC, but does work all over the country.

The Venice Biennale is a major contemporary art exhibition that takes place once every two years in Venice, Italy. The Venice Film Festival is part of it, as is the Venice Biennale of Architecture, which is held in even years.

More information on the US Pavilion here. This years event will be from September 14 through November 23, 2008.
