Ray Price Bike Fest Opens Today, Schedule

The Ray Price Bike Fest opens today to clear skies after heavy rains all last night. The Bike Fest is one of the largest annual events in downtown Raleigh. Along with live music there will be a parade tonight at 6pm, as well as BMX stunt riders tomorrow.

Last night, as Fayetteville Street shut down to allow vendors to setup, employees at the Mint complained that they were dead, that their “customers wouldn’t come without valet parking.” The Big Easy, across the street, is known to be frequented by bikers and adapted well to the street crowds of Raleigh Wide Open, so it should fare well.

The Mint shouldn’t have too much problem…just take that folding sign for the valet parking and put it on the other side of the building facing Wilmington Street.  Shouldn’t be too hard.

Good to see this much activity on our downtown streets…hopefully these bikers will patronize local businesses and make up for any loss of business from the roads being blocked!

Worship should only be held in Churches! Not everyone who uses Fayettville St. Mall is religious and we should not be subject to such BS!!!

Oh joy, bike fest is here.

Went last year and attempted to enjoy Yancy’s for lunch (as all the other restaurants were packed, too) and an hour and half later the food was cold and service was awful. Hope the other businesses provide better accommodations for such a large event… it’s just what they need to create new customers who may not normally be downtown.

The Mint will not benefit from the bike fest and they know it like most other businesses.

People can practice their religion anywhere and I can’t see how it’s going to harm anyone. No one ever seems to stop me from practicing beer drinking and sinning.

Joy used to be where bikers misfits and criminals rather than sheep.

Yancey’s is closed for good reason.

Everything will be back to normal soon and all will have plenty to complain about. Promise.
