Those of us who aren’t flocking to the beach or lounging by the pool this weekend may want to check out the new Saturday Market at Rebus Works Gallery. The Saturday Market began in April and will continue to be held through November 19th. Featuring everything from local food vendors to food trucks, arts and crafts, and live music, the Market has been building quite a buzz as an alternate to the larger State Farmers Market and downtown markets.

With their convenient Boylan Heights location, Rebus has been a hub for local artists and a mainstay for the First Friday route. Building upon that popularity, the Saturday Market is quickly becoming a well supported event that combines farmers, crafters, and food and beverage trucks for a great one-stop shopping spot.

According to Shonna Greenwell, owner of Rebus Words, “everything is locally produced, with a focus on being kid friendly, and community oriented.” In addition to the products targeted more towards adults, the Saturday Market also maintains a chicken coop and garden area, to educate children about food and sustainability, as well as a kid’s craft area, which affords parents time to do their shopping while their children remain occupied and artistically stimulated. The Market also provides donation base yoga and chair massages, so there are definitely a variety of draws for people of all ages, all with a positive, local neighborhood feel.

This week’s Market will feature the Bulkogi Korean BBQ food truck, local farmers, meat, and seafood vendors, baked goods, local cheese and honey, and flowers. Beer will be offered by Boylan Bridge Brew Pub. Crafters include Mystery Build (kits and t-shirts),  handmade coloring books by Liz Phiz, as well as other craft vendors such as Boredeaux Lane Studio and Della Rae. In addition to the yoga and chair massages, music will be provided by DJ Monte La Monte.

The Saturday Market takes place at Rebus Works, located at 301-2 Kinsey Street, and is open every Saturday from 9am-2pm.
