The new Rosebuds album Life Like doesn’t come out for a couple of weeks but you can stream all tracks at Merge Record’s website. The album is a mix of the traditional dance pop Rosebuds and the electro-new wave influenced Night of the Furies and is in keeping with the Rosebuds’ musical progression.
They have yet to play many of these new songs live and only played one song, the title track, at the Cy Rawls Benefit show a couple of weeks ago at Cat’s Cradle. Hopefully an upcoming show in Raleigh will debut many of the songs live. I say they have a show that is only Life Like songs….straight through, from Life Like to In the Backyards (one of the best songs on the album), with maybe Push It and Jasmine as the encore. I’ll pay a good price for that show.
Also, stay posted for a full album review in the coming weeks.
You can preorder the CD ($13) and LP ($15) at Merge Records.
The fourth full-length from this Raleigh, NC band is a return to more organic territory, barely a year after releasing the synth-heavy dance pop of 2007’s Night Of The Furies. Guest appearances by Portastatic’s Matthew McCaughan, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, and Ashley Stove’s Jim Brantley. 180 gram LP comes with free MP3 download coupon.
