There’s a new option in town for vegetarian and vegan food in Raleigh—as well as those with food allergies or special dietary needs or desires. Rosie’s Plate in Oakwood prepares a diverse selection of gluten, peanut, and shellfish free food for pick-up or delivery.
Rose Waring, founder of Rosie’s Kitchen, started Rosie’s Plate as a way to fill the void in healthy dining options for individuals or families with special diets.

The idea of Rosie’s Plate began when I discovered my passion for wanting to help others who struggle to keep up with the demands of cooking everything themselves, as well as the lack of other sources of safe and delicious fresh foods for people on special diets. I also wanted to provide fresh food free of preservatives and as healthy and natural as possible.
Rose and her staff prepare a unique menu every two weeks. The changing menu includes choices of entrees, salads and dressings, desserts, soups, side dishes, to-go-lunches, snacks, breads, and beverages. There are hormone and antibiotic free meat options as well as vegetarian and vegan choices, and full listings of ingredients are provided with each item description. Entrees are reasonably priced and range from $6.50 to $9.00 a serving, and sides cost $2 to $3. Rosie’s plate delivers within the beltline and to part of North Raleigh.
Some of this weeks’ items (first half of June) are Cuban Pork Tenderloin Medallions with Roasted Vegetable Salsa, Lemon Pepper Roasted Salmon, Asian Radish and Carrot Salad, Sliced Herbed Polenta, and Organic Apple Crisp.
Orders can be placed directly through the website or over the phone and are available for pick-up or delivery. One important thing to note is the orders will be available the next business day. So this isn’t the place to walk into during your lunch hour to order a quick meal. Even if you do not have special dietary needs there are other reasons to give Rosie’s Plate a try—the delivery aspect is great for busy schedules, and you can’t go wrong having a healthy meal prepared locally.
