The Young Architects Forum has revived the Have a Seat bus bench design program for another year of collaboration of local transit authorities with young designers. Back in April of 2008, the YAF hosted their first bus bench design charrette, which resulted in a handful of designs. These designs were later built, on a very small budget, and some were installed at a bus stop in East Raleigh. The group also won a 2010 Sir Walter Raleigh Award for the benches at Rush Street/Hammond Business Park and Glenbrook Drive/ Dacian Road.

Come out Saturday to the Brooks Rotunda at the NC State Design School from 1:30-4pm for the second public charrete and help design bus benches and shelters. There are five sites this year for the installation of the benches. No design education is required and all ideas will be entertained. Charrettes are a fun and open ended process that can result in some amazing ideas.
