Sauced Pizza Now Open on Glenwood South

Although their Grand Opening Party isn’t until next Thursday, Sauced Pizza on Glenwood South is indeed serving slices and brews this weekend (until 3am, well the slices at least) and next week for a soft opening.

We hope the pizza and booze is as good as it was quick to open.

I like the slices, a lot. But then again, I could be a little biased! grin PS - I’ve also ventured off into the caprese salads and the moz sticks… both are yummy, too.

AND PS - The Hayes Barton desserts… wow. I’m going to be a fat kid for sure before this is all over and done with.

All around this spot is pretty good.  Portion sizes are great.  No beer on draft is a downer but not a big deal.  Pizza is almost there on taste…just need to tweek the crust…it was bland and too delicate perhaps additional salt is needed.  Regardless it is a great place and I will be heading back soon.

Had a large pizza there last night.  Great space/atmosphere, and good thin NY style slices!  It will be packed between 1:30 and 3:00am on bar nights!

astonishingly small slices and not very New York at all.  overdone crust and thin flavor.  not cheap either. no new yorkers in this kitchen.  sure to fail quickly unless they learn what a NY portion and flavor is.

I have tried sauced pizza twice now. Can’t find much good to say. First lets start with the slogan on the side of the building. NY Pizza/NC Pub. NC Pub - Are you kidding me! The place has no draught beer. The beer selection is also weak. Serving a bottle of big boss does not make you an “NC Pub”. NY Pizza…well someone hasn’t done their homework on NY Pizza. Thats all I have to say about that. Last but not least ... how about some passable front of house staff. Both times the service has been downright awful. You can’t just move the drink pouring robots/bartenders from across the street and expect them to make good servers. This place has a lot to learn if they want to be competitive for the dining dollar in Raleigh.

Draft is on the way eventually, but the way the bar is constructed now, it doesn’t allow for it.

    Lilly’s prices, Papa John taste.

I thought the pizza was pretty good (100x better than Papa John’s), and we had a very friendly waitress.  Someone even approached us and asked if we had any feedback to pass along regarding the pizza.  Because the place is on Glenwood South, and the people working their don’t have beards and tattoo sleeves, I’m sure it will catch a lot of hate from this site….

Tried twice now. Toppings are scarce. In NY if you order a slice of mushroom the shrooms are piled high. I may have had 5 bits on my slice. Toppings are expensive. The take away slice was horrible, nothing better than Sbarro.

Tried Sauced today. From the wan greeting by the Prozac-deprived waitress to the large flatscreen featuring Robert Plant shaking his pensioner booty, I knew I was in trouble.  Sbarro? Papa Johns? Maybe with more practice Sauced’s chefs can join such august company.

Add poorly lit, uninspired decor and you have the perfect place to eat before committing suicide.

    Buon appetito!

I’ve been to sauced several times now and always welcome new opportunities and new restaurants in Downtown Raleigh.  These boards are both funny, helpful, odd, and strange.  For example, I think there is a guy there that has a beard?  Not sure what that has to do with anything…

To Mike and his team, congratulations on this new enterprise and I hope to see you at Sauced and Moonlight soon!  I’m sure my old Aura and Rush Tabs helped your venture…

I’ll meet you halfway when Brandon opens Bada Bing.
