After downsizing once this year, Schoolkids Records is looking for more ways to make its last store remain a physical entity. In comes the enemy of mom and pop shops, the digital online music industry. But, this time the two are becoming friends with benefits…damn good benefits. Schoolkids will be opening a digital music store that is a collaboration between the Coalition of Independent Music Stores and ThinkIndie and will go live May 1st.

It’s true. Schoolkids Records will be launching their very own digital store on May 1, through CIMS and ThinkIndie. The selection is rapidly expanding, and the mp3’s for sale will be of the highest quality ever offered by a digital site. We can’t give out too much information currently, as the site is still being worked on for its launch date, but we will pass on whatever info we get to you as we get it, and in the meantime, you can head over to http://www.thinkindie.com for more info. Now, you can support your local record store without even leaving your couch!!

Not that I am not glad Schoolkids is still alive, but isn’t this about 4 years too late?
