Do you remember when Downtown Raleigh had a grocery store, but it had empty shelves and a guy who followed customers around and screamed at people? It was called Capital City Grocery and it will forever be used in MBA programs as an example of how not to make a profit in business.
One thing Capital City Grocery did that people liked was live music on Friday nights. It was mostly Bluegrass bands, but it was free and you could drink beer outside and many would show up. Now there is no CCG and no live music, so everyone in Mordecai holes up in their basements on Friday nights and watches reruns of America’s Funniest Videos until they pass out. Not for much longer though!
A nice collaboration between neighborhood residents and Seaboard Station merchants is bringing back the music. Check it out here www.seaboardmusic.com.
