Sidetrack Brewpub has been under consideration/construction for years now. I remember when the owner held an opening over 2 years ago, seeking investments. I still have my wooden nickel that is redeemable for a free beer if it ever opens. On Friday a satirically written announcement popped up on their website stating another piece of the puzzle has changed. It will now be called Boylan Bridge Brewpub, for legal reasons (not for exaggerated alliteration).
TODAY! - Friday May 2, 2008 - We are changing the name of the Sidetrack Brewpub.
A Chicago lawyer on Madison Street, (not to be confused with Madison Avenue which is owned by New York and not Chicago), has written us a letter ordering us to cease and desist using the word Sidetrack. He represents a client who owns a place called The Sidetrack and has acquired a trademark on the word.
Our new name will be The Boylan Bridge Brewpub which our supporters already refer to as “The Bridge”. In the future you will log on to www.boylanbridge.com which is under construction right now and should be ready by Monday May 05. (The website, not the bridge.)
