Sound Situations is a little bit reality TV, a whole lot of live performance and totally local. In the words of producer and creator, Suzy Hooker, “Sound Situations is a 30-minute, bi-weekly television show that focuses its spotlight onto the local music happening in the Triangle area of NC. The culturally rich and diverse cities of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro are producing some of the finest musicians in the country...and we thought you should know. “ Indeed. The show will be airing next week in a time slot still to be determined by the Raleigh Television Network, aka channel 10 public access TV, as well as online at www.soundsituations.com.

Featured artists for season one include Peter Lamb and the Wolves, I Was Totally Destroying It, Free Electric State, Shana Tucker, Dark Water Rising, th'Bullfrog Willard McGhee, Atomic Rhythm All-Stars, Birds & Arrows, Filthybird, The Small Ponds, Hammer No More The Fingers and The Beast.

And for those of you already tuned into the great music scene in the Triangle, the show goes above and beyond the club experience. As Hooker says, “The truly unique aspect of the SS format is that we have the ability to take viewers to places audience members in a traditional music venue can't go: into the lives of the musicians and performers, offering exclusive glimpses into the people behind the public personalities.  The performers anyone can watch on stage are often very different from the people we speak to in living rooms and backyards; by stepping into the musician's comfort zones, we're able to capture much less guarded pictures of the creative process and the private personalities behind the songs, allowing for a more intimate experience with the craft that they present to the public. “

The show is hosted by Kelly Reid, (formerly of WKNC and WUNC), and with an eye towards genre diversity, the first season will feature “situations” with Peter Lamb and the Wolves, I Was Totally Destroying It, Free Electric State, Shana Tucker, Dark Water Rising, th'Bullfrog Willard McGhee, Atomic Rhythm All-Stars, Birds & Arrows, Filthybird, The Small Ponds, Hammer No More The Fingers and The Beast.
The Raleigh premier party will be at Deep South this coming Tuesday, June 28th from 8-10PM.  In addition to screening episodes one and two, the party will feature performances from th'Bullfrog and the Peter Lamb Trio.
