Behind the scenes, a small group has been working on producing an iPhone application for this year’s SPARKcon festival which will go down once again in Downtown Raleigh from September 16-19, 2010. The application is now live in the Apple App Store and includes a handful of great features including push notifications (in case of an event change), a full schedule that can be updated without downloading a new version of the application, checkin coordination with Foursquare and local start-up Tri-out, as well as QR code scanning which is a fantastic feature that will be coming to more and more mobile applications over the next few years.

Download the new app and start planning your SPARKcon weekend here. Word is that an Android one is in the works as well. Stay tuned. (We also hear about another local Mobile App that you may want to get your hands on soon, but we’ll let you know more about that as soon as possible)

why do they make silly iPhone only apps? Why not just make a decent mobile version of their site with all the same features? Not everyone wants a iPhone
