There will be an opening reception for these exhibitions featuring the Artists & Objects talk with Joyce Tenneson discussing her work on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the NCSU Gregg Museum on the 2nd floor of Talley Student Center.
The inaugural Southeastern Photography Triennial (SPoT!) is a juried photography exhibition open to artists throughout the Southeast. Thirty-nine photographers were chosen from over 170 entries by distinguished American photographer Joyce Tenneson. Tenneson is a world-renowned fine art photographer and portraitist whose work has appeared in over 150 exhibitions and numerous publications. Named Photographer of the Year in 1990 by the international organization Women in Photography, Tenneson’s name was also included by a recent poll conducted by American Photo magazine on a list of the ten most influential women photographers in the history of photography. An exhibition of Ms. Tenneson’s work will run at the Gregg concurrently with the SPoT exhibition.

Juror’s Work: The Photography of Joyce Tenneson
Ms. Tenneson was the juror for the SPoT! exhibition. This exhibition will feature works provided by Tenneson, who has been featured in over 150 exhibitions worldwide. She has been described by critics as “one of America’s most interesting portrayers of the human character” and is a highly demanded photographer in North America, Europe and Japan. She has authored 10 books in addition to photographing Jane Fonda & Troy Garity, Jodi Foster, Salma Hayek & Eve Ensler, Norah Jones, King & Queen of Jordan, Carole King, Sir Ben Kingsley, Demi Moore, Rosie Perez, Shiva Rose, Isabella Rossellini, James Taylor, Marisa Tomei and others.
