Chocolate Covered Bacon and Deep Fried Ho Ho’s at the State Fair

The State Fair has been going for over 140 years and in that time has evolved with the state economy. AgriBusiness is the biggest industry in North Carolina and NC Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler knows the fair's roots are in showcasing our state's progress. Troxler and his public relations staff also know what gets the masses to the fair: Deep Fried Everything. So much so, that the official blog of the fair is called Deep Fried @ the N.C. State Fair. Today the fair held its opening event for the press to get a preview of the events, the rides, and, most importantly, the fried food. In addition to the fried Pecan Pie and Banana Pudding from last year the newest fried confection: Fried Ho Ho's. As delicious as it sounds, you have to get by Murphy's during the fair to try one of these. Like a gooey hot chocolate filled cake on a stick, they are sure to be a big draw. Also making a State Fair Premier is the fabled chocolate covered bacon. Sweet and salty - it is a newest love for the bacon obsessed all over NC. See the fried preview from last year- they should all be back for this one.
