The owners of Thaiphoon Bistro have been working for a couple of months to get the next restaurant on Glenwood South open by the end of summer. The wait is almost over and doors will open tomorrow night for dinner.
Solas on Glenwood, just a block from Thaiphoon Bistro, should be opening this month as well. (More restaurants but where’s the retail?)

I’m really looking forward to having a Thai restaurant on Glenwood. Does anyone know if this is a chain?
^Since their website is currently blank and “parked”, I’m assuming it’s not a chain.
they need to deliver!!!
raleigh needs another delivery option besides pizza for those “the babies freakin’ out and we don’t want to cook” nights.
when codys went out of buisness it left a whole in the delivery realm.
but yes, having thai on glenwood will be awesome.
As long as they don’t do karaoke they can serve whatever they want. I’m excited to try it out.
Is this the same Thaiphoon as the one north of Dupont Circle in DC?
is this the same location as Cody’s was?!
SOOO glad to have Thai place close to downtown/campus again!! I REALLY hope they deliver!
I’m excited that the parking is both free and complimentary.
The map is off…it should be above North Street, not below it.
Never mind, I was backwards.
The restaurant name is AWESOME, man
The food was delicious, atmosphere was lively, decor was fun, and the service was friendly. I am a Thaiphoon fan.
Why did Cody’s close?
I love the food at Thaiphoon.
cody’s went out of business but he still has the peking garden right??
cody still has peking garden. he sold cody’s b/c he was tired of never seeing his wife (she ran peking garden and he ran the glenwood location). i miss cody’s but had lunch at thaiphoon yesterday and it was incredible!
Awesome, I right an intelligent review. And the moderator deletes it.
So instead, I will write on the level of the responses… hopefully this will not get deleted.
“It is like so cool and stuff. It made my mouth burn with yummy goodness”
It is not a chain.
this is not a positive review.
stay away from the beef dishes. they basically took a rump roast, over-cooked it, put it in the fridge overnight, cut it up the next morning and threw the pieces in the panang sauce for about 10 minutes before serving it to me on a luciously decorated plate. plus, i had to wait 35 minutes (after the drinks came).
really? i went there last week and the food was awesome. I didnt wait that long. it was usual and service was fine.
Went to Thaiphoon Bistro this past weekend with a large group (10+). Atmosphere was incredible - I only hope it will catch on and become more of a spot to see and be seen. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was pretty empty.. Everyone in my group LOVED their food - we had a huge range of food from salads to veggie meals to beef. My tofu dish was phenomenal, and dishes are big enough to split. Only complaint was NYC beer prices ($5/bottle). Wine, however, was decently priced. Service was great, they were very accommodating. Will definitely go back and highly recommend to others.
The price to eat here is way too high for the taste of the food. The garnishments on the plate are large than the meal. The plates are decorated over the top. I like this but when it all comes to it I would rather have taste.
I have tried many Thai restaurants in the Raleigh area. Thaiphoon would be in the top 6.
I would try Thai House or Thai Villa if you want a tasty Thai meal. Oh, and the drinks come out pretty quickly with-out a smile, then the food takes a while to come form the kitchen. Try Thaiphoon for fun but try somewhere else for taste.
I’ll be travelling to North Hills in Raleigh next month and looking forward to having a Chinese or Thai food. Which is the best restaurant there any suggestions? I heard lot of good things about Spring Rolls Restaurant and their Chinese, Thai and Vegan menu.
