The biggest First Friday of the year is always September. Something about school coming back and vacations ending means all of the galleries bring top notch shows. This September may be the biggest month in Raleigh art in years. First off are 4 shows that we did interviews for this month:
Luke Miller Buchanan at Rebus Works
Jason Craighead at Flanders Gallery
Lincoln Hancock at Morning Times
Tim Lytvinenko at Raleigh Denim
On top of these there are group shows at the new VAE on Martin Street. Lump returns with an electric show called Plugged In. Art Space has several shows as usual with Janelle Howington opening with intricate bird paintings capturing both form and the movement of birds.

designSPARK opens next door to the new VAE on Martin Street. Further down the street DesignBox has LA artist Dave Rose vising with his brighter than life low pop paintings. And of course CAM will be open- the only time it is free all month.
The Bike First Friday crew meets at the NCSU bell tower at 7pm.
Our pick for the after party is supremely local hip hop show: Kooley High, King Mez, Halo and Drique London, 10PM at King's.
