The Love Language wrapped up recording on their new album over the weekend. The album will be called Libraries, was recorded at Flying Tiger Sound’s beautiful recording studio on North Blount Street in Downtown Raleigh and will be released on Merge Records later this year.

Stu McLamb had the following to say (on TLL’s blog) about the new album:

I couldn’t be more pleased with the record and the fact that it was done in a month and a half is just ridiculous. It’s very expansive and rich sonically and all over the board as far as genres. Some songs sound like Motown on steroids, some sound like orchestral My Bloody Valentine, and some sound pretty much like the last album. BJ did a wonderful job of expanding upon the sounds I was exploring on the first record and I’m just really, really excited. I can’t wait for you all to hear it! It is slated for a mid-summer release date.

Stu goes on to say that the band has had a small shift in members, a few of which will concentrate on their new band, The Light Pines. The Light Pines are getting lots of buzz in the area and started around the same time as The Love Language. The split is amicable and has allowed Stu to concentrate on the new album along with a few other TLL members.

I can’t wait to hear the new album this summer, but too bad The Light Pines contingent is moving on.  The live lineup of TTL sounded (and looked!) so much better than the ultra-lo-fi studio version; there is just no comparison.
