On Saturday, one of the most hyped local bands, The Love Language, took on a crowd of about 40 or 50 at Schoolkids Records. The band consists of three former members of The Capulets who were a buzzed band in Raleigh a couple of years ago. Maybe they should have called the band The Montagues. I kid.

The show was billed as a warm up for their album (which is excellent) release party that evening at Local 506 in Chapel Hill. I don’t want to drop names but Pete Doherty (The Libertines) and The Walkmen come to mind with the band’s new sound.
The band played a couple of songs off of the new album (The Love Language, available now at Schoolkids Records), including Sparxxx, Providence and Lalita by request to end the set, but mostly played new songs including the fabulous Britney’s Back. I was a huge fan of The Capulets so it’s good to see the guys back making music again and this time getting the recognition they deserve (unlike that Cradle benefit show back in 2006 where there were only about 10 folks in the crowd).
