Corner Market, Old Garner Road, 1975 by Marshall Wyatt

The staples of this neighborhood market in south Raleigh were beer, wine, cigarettes, and soft drinks. A 10-foot, hand-painted Coke bottle adorns one side of the building, and a poster stapled to the front door announces upcoming attractions at Dorton Arena - Rufus featuring Chaka Khan and Parliament-Funkadelic.

Ha! Great minds. As soon as I saw that poster I thought I’d be willing to go see that show today so I can’t imagine how great it must have been back in 1975…horrible Dorton acoustics notwithstanding of course.
