Universal's The Thing looks to be that rarest of Hollywood creatures; the reboot that is as good as the original. All the ingredients are there for a fine creature feature: the isolated setting, the gorgeous protagonist, and the alien running amok. Now you add that up with the fact that Halloween is just around the corner? Perfection.

In this prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing, an alien craft is discovered at a secluded Antarctic research site. When tension begins to build among those at the site, a young graduate student (Rocky Mount's own Mary Elizabeth Winstead) teams up with a helicopter pilot (Warrior's Joel Edgerton) to pursue the alien being.
