On Tuesday October 7th, local singer/songwriter Tift Merritt will host the Raleigh Medal of Arts Ceremony at the Fletcher Theater for Performing Arts in Downtown Raleigh.
Merritt will perform with Community Music School Vocal Ensemble and there will be other performers, including All Batten and the Bluegrass Reunion, a couple of local high school bands and an African American Dance Ensemble. The event is open to the public and free but it seating is first come, first serve.
The 24th Annual Raleigh Medal of Arts Ceremony is proud to honor award recipients Capital Bank (supporter of Raleigh arts community), Lucy Daniels (writer and clinical psychologist), Dr. Charles “Chuck” Davis (Founder and Artistic Director of the African-American Dance Ensemble), Lenard D. Moore (poet and President of the Haiku Society of America), Susan Spurlin Newberry (former Executive Director of PineCone Traditional Music), and Jeffery H. Richardson (musician/conductor/Broughton High School band director).
