Rid of the Funky Bathroom Flora

I dedicate this week’s tip to everyone who, like me, has been so busy these past few weeks with election madness that they haven’t cleaned their bathrooms. Eeeewww.
Did you know that many commercial mold & mildew killers actually contain pesticides - specifically, a class of pesticides called fungicides? Here’s how to get rid of your funky bathroom flora and fauna without carcinogenic chemicals:

Mold & Mildew Killer

1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup borax
2 cups warm water

Mix it up, then pour or spray the solution onto moldy areas and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, you can scrub off the funk easily with a brush or scouring pad. If mildew is still visible, repeat application. The vinegar and borax actually have a chemical reaction when mixed that releases carbon dioxide (and adds super cleaning power!), so you have to use up this cleaner right away - don’t mix it and leave it, and don’t try and save it for later.
