Which came first, the chicken or the egg? The New Raleigh post or the booking agent contacting the bands Vampire Weekend and Beach House? While we won’t even try to take any credit for this show, both bands were tossed around in the Q&A of Who We’d Like to See Play the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater. We think that’s kinda rad. Maybe someone was listening, but more likely just coincidence.
Beach House put out one of the best albums of 2010 (Teen Dream) in January and Vampire Weekend debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts with their sophomore album Contra in the same month. Easily 5,000 tickets right?

That said, we’ll get to the details.
The bands will play the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater on Sunday October 17th. Tickets go on sale on Friday, August 27th at 10am online via Ticketmaster or the Progress Energy Center Box Office. Prices are (through Ticketmaster): US $28.50 (US $16.50 Ticket + US $12.00 Fees) or US $37.50 (US $24.50 Ticket + US $13.00 Fees). Students get a $5 discount at the Progress Energy or the Time Warner Cable box offices.
Oh, and Vampire Weekend is still not playing Sunday at Hopscotch.

Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater Vampire Weekend Beach House
AHHHHHHH this is fantastic news. Never thought VW would make it out here - excited.
You know why this rules? 45 minutes of Beach House out in nature, then you can peace out and hit a good night spot.
Brian, 3 months ago I would have agreed with you, but I reluctantly saw VW at Sasquatch earlier this summer and was shocked at how good they were live.
$12 in fees? Screw that. As much as I’d like to see this show, I’m not giving TicketMaster one dime of my money.
It’s time to put up, or shut up. Will hipsters fork over $37.50 (18.75 PBRs) at a commercial venue to see two of the biggest names in indy rock?
especially when both bands played Asheville and Chapel Hill for much cheaper in the last year.
I want to see Beach House again but I do not want to see Vampire Weekend. Decisions.
While I’m not a fan of VW, this is definitely a big step up from 311 and O.A.R. Thinking about just watching Beach House from the parking deck on McDowell
Is it not cool to like Vampire Weekend now that more than 50 people have heard of them? Everyone seems to be going out of their way to bash them while praising Beach House. I tried to give Beach House a chance, but frankly they sound like the world’s greatest sleep aid.
Grayson Currin is booking at the Downtown Raleigh Amp?
C…that’s just what hipsters do. Their desire to be different is what makes them all the same.
Hipster 1: “Dude your thick black eyeglasses, v-neck, skinny jeans, and scarf are so anti-conformist.”
Hipster 2: “Thanks so are yours”
walk yo’ ass down to the box office and avoid paying the fees
That description of a hipster is so 3 years ago.
Parking deck! Parking deck! I’m going to MGMT, can’t afford both.
what exactly do we get for these fees? Not to mention the extra charge if you use your own printer to create your ticket. Just another thing to thank Jefferson Holt’s mom when she let Ticketmaster screw us over.
