Vermillion, a women’s designer clothing boutique located in Raleigh’s North Hills shopping center, celebrates five years of business March 19.  Opened by Ashley Vermillion Harris in Spring of 2005, the fashion-forward store is credited with bringing pieces from well-known designers including Lela Rose, Stella McCartney, Bottega Veneta, Anya Hindmarch and Pucci to Triangle shoppers.

“I opened the store to provide an edited version of classic and cutting edge clothing and accessories from those who know everything about fashion to those who just appreciate beautiful and unique things,” said Harris. Having spent several years in the fashion industry, Harris understood the importance of a satisfying shopping experience.  It was her knowledge of the industry and love of shopping that led her to develop Vermillion’s modern concept of combining the entertainment of shopping with beautiful clothing, accessories and a sophisticated setting.  This concept has made the store a leader in the area’s burgeoning fashion scene.

In its five years, Vermillion has ushered in a fashion revolution or “sea change” to the Triangle.  Thanks to thoughtful education, a trained eye for spotting emerging trends and a natural ability to connect with her customers, Harris brought options typically offered in urban areas to her willing clientele.  There were waitlists for Balenciaga bags, Tory Burch tunics, Lanvin flats and collection-worthy pieces from Subversive Jewelry.  A new dialect developed as women began dropping by Vermillion to not only shop, but also to discuss emerging designers, key pieces and plan seasonal wardrobes. To kick off each season the store produced a fashion show highlighting key pieces and trends, and giving customers creative ideas on how to wear that season’s must haves.  “The store epitomizes the way women love to dress; combining all price points to create a modern, yet timeless look,” said Harris. In fact, Andre Leon Talley, Editor-at-Large for Vogue was an early fan of Vermillion and its modern approach to shopping.

This spring brings the arrival of such sought after brands like Matthew Williamson, The Row, A.L.C. and Halston Heritage, the relaunch of the iconic fashion house now headed by Sarah Jessica Parker.  “Our shoppers are in for a sartorial treat with all of the new lines for spring, and the return of an old favorite – Derek Lam,” said Harris.

Vermillion is located at 4321 The Lassiter at North Hills, Raleigh, NC.  Store hours are Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday by appointment.  For more information, and to view Vermillion’s latest fashion offerings, please visit their website
