According to their Facebook and Twitter pages, Vintage Bar and Lounge will be opening next week and will have a few local brews on tap (Aviator Old BullDog Extra Special and BoneHead India Brown). Vintage Bar and Lounge is replacing Blue Martini on West Street and will be a membership only bar that features “a variety of sports and classic tv and movies on our 13 HD TVs”.

What, only 13 HD TVs?
Yeah, I’m not sure I’d be entirely comfortable patronizing an establishment that provided any less than 14 HDTVs…jeezus…
Again, the fine art of trashing a place before it even opens is on display. Some people watch sports, hence bars have televisions in them. Jesus.
CF, I think they were kidding. While I agree with your sentiment overall, I think you need to lighten up in this case.
@CF: Dreadnought and Erin were being sarcastic…
yeah CF, lighten up….I thought their comments were in good humor…
Didn’t know that HDTVs were ‘vintage’. Ha. Ha ha.
I’m intrigued by this “classic tv and movies.” I couldn’t care less about sports, and it’d be fun to have, say, ‘Sunset Blvd’ or “All in the Family” on in the background of a cool bar rather than the maddening squeak-squeak-squeak of basketball players running across a court.
All in the Family? Now you’re talking!
Does anyone else wish that the Glenwood South district would use the wayback machine and go back to some dive bars, tire shops, and random other small businesses instead of these crap fu-fu bars popping up all over the place?
Does Raleigh even have enough hair gel to support 47 crap fu-fu bars in 6 blocks? I think not.
Kind of weird that a brand new place is called “Vintage.”
@John
I think that is the direction Vintage is going note the emphasis on local beer rather than corn syrup drinks for $8 and really shitty food. Raleigh seems to have four distinct markets though:
1) hipsters that drink pbr and look down on those that don’t do “local/sustainable”
2) young professionals that can afford “local/sustainable”
3) mid 30s to late 40s guys with hair gel trying to sleep with girls in their 20s
4) college
The Times works because it caters to most of those market segments. In general Glenwood seems to cater mostly to the third and fourth. I think Vintage wants to tap into the 1st and 2nd group and keep some of the original 3rd.
Are they aware that there is a church down the street of the same name??

The hipster church! Ha ha ha.
well said JT.
@JT For some reason i thought i was the only one to think glenwood was catering to your #3. hell, i even included another reason that we’ll call number 4. #4 young women who want to find a man for all of the usual gold digging reasons.
on topic Membership only bar must mean they will allow clouds of smoke in this place. i think ill pass on vintage.
Wow - This place didn’t even last a year. I hear vintage bar is now closed!
