Today on Politico, Alexander Burns highlights Wake County alongside Nevada’s Washoe County in an article titled Poll: Obama gains in key swing counties.
414 voters responded to the latest Wake County poll conducted on Oct. 19th with a 5% margin of error. In that poll, Obama is ahead 52% to 43% for McCain and Obama also leads 50% to 44% in Politico’s last Wake County poll conducted on Oct. 9th. This could be a big turnaround from the 2 point loss Kerry posted against Bush. Polls are also showing that women in Wake County are favoring Obama 51% to 43% and independents are leaning Democratic 57% to 31% leaning Republican. Statewide, Obama maintains a 1-2 point lead, depending on which poll average you read, which means North Carolina is statistically tied and a top tier battleground state.
