Next Thursday October 2nd, WakeUp’s annual meeting will host a panel discussion on issues that are locally relevant in the statewide races. Hosted in Fletcher auditorium in the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts and hosted by the Indy’s Bob Geary, this event is sure to be educational, entertaining, and well attended. Two pundits Chris Fitzsimon from the left leaning NC Policy Watch and John Hood from the right leaning John Locke Foundation will discuss the finer points of NC politics.
The event will run from 7- 9pm and will close with an update on WakeUp’s current agenda. This is one local political event, not to be missed.
This election season, voters should ask local and state candidates what action they will take to plan for rapid growth. Who is elected to the Wake Board of Commissioners and the NC General Assembly will directly shape decisions about regional transit, ensuring adequate water supply and how to pay for schools.
...
WakeUP wants voters to be informed, so we are inviting perhaps diametrically opposing perspectives on these elections and what they could mean for issues very close to home.
