With all the early voting in North Carolina, many have found short lines on this wet election day morning. What was your experience like? Anything unusual? Send us your stories and photos.
Dont forget our Election Night Party round up for tonight’s hot spots. And the NC Voting problems Hotline if you have any problems.
See you at the polls!

I voted around 9:30 at the Cameron Village Library. No lines, in and out. Though I did get chastized by one of the volunteers for not voting in the nonpartisan elections… isn’t that illegal?
^ WTF!
Walked right in, voted, walked out at Yates Mill Elementary.
Did have to park in the mud and got my gorgeous brown heels covered in red clay mud… that’s a topic for another blog though. (And for those who really care, luckily it cleaned right off.)
I, too, voted at Cameron Village library. At about 10:20am.
Only 3 people were ahead of me in line, one of whom didn’t live in my precinct and left to go to her correct voting location. The volunteers outside were polite. All signs were outside the campaigning perimeter.
Acree, how did they know you didn’t vote for the judges? They’re not supposed to be looking at your ballot! That’s why it’s called “secret ballot!” (I didn’t get harangued, but perhaps because I did vote for judges.)
All in all, a painless experience. Plus free Starbucks!
Free Starbucks?? I missed that part.
I was voting straight ticket except for two elections, so I wanted to clarify with the woman by the optical scanner that I had filled out the ballot correctly. She didn’t look at my ballot but she asked if I filled out the back page. I said I wasn’t voting in the nonpartisan elections and she looked at me with disapproval and said, “Well… that’s your choice.” I said, “If I had researched them I would have, but I’m not going to vote for random people’s names.” She kept up the disapproving look and shrugged.
All sorts of free stuff:

I’ve also read:
-20% off at Swoozies (plus free gifts while they last… but those goobers didn’t make their email yesterday available for viewing online, so I can’t give a link)
-frostys at Wendy’s
-donuts at Dunkin Donuts
-some Chick-Fil-As are giving out sandwiches but you have to turn in your “I Voted” sticker.
No problems voting at Lowes Grove Baptist Church in Durham County. My husband and I got there around 9:30 AM. There was a very short line to sign in, got a booth right away and I was done by 9:45. Was told no photography was allowed inside the building (Why?) but I managed to snap a quick shot of the presidential section of my ballot with my cell phone. I have to mention, I feel good about the optical scan ballots, knowing there’s a paper trail for my vote!
In and out in less than five minutes.
It was quick and easy. Line moved quickly. And now off to get all the free stuff…
