Raleigh Firefighters and Police Officers are surrounding 306 N. Wilmington St, the State Laboratory of Public Health,  after reports of a burning odor. The building was evacuated around 3pm.

It is said there may be a gas leak of some sort. The State Laboratory of Public Health has several laboratories that work with a variety of chemicals for medical research.  Downtown Raleigh is familiar with evacuation situations, several happend on a larger scale last year when gas lines were pierced on Martin Street.
