WKNC Birthday Bash

Local College Radio Station WKNC plans on celebrating its 41st Birthday in downtown Raleigh on Thursday with its regularly scheduled Local Beer / Local Band night at Tir Na Nog Irish Pub.  There will be a handful of giveaways and the band for this week will be another great local group.  Bombadil is from Durham/Chapel Hill and seem to share a love for sea shanties and the quirky rock of Pete Doherty, creating contemporary Irish, yet local, sound.  Another thing they share is their label, Ramseur Records, with two other North Carolina bands that have sold out shows in this area in the past couple of years, The Avett Brothers and theeverybodyfields.  Dolph Ramseur knows how to recruit bands that North Carolina loves…..and the rest of the country seems to follow along like pirates walking the plank on command.
