Disco Rodeo is one of the lesser known venues in Raleigh over the past few years. But, it has been the venue that has brought the biggest rock n roll acts to town, including Interpol, Pixies, and Flaming Lips, to name a few. While it’s hard to compare Wolf Parade to any of these bands, they are sure to sell out the space.
Wolf Parade released an excellent 6 song EP in 2004. It was followed shortly after by their first album Apologies to the Queen Mary, which was gushed over by most music critics. Since this album, the band has toured a small amount and played lots of festivals. Offshoots of the band, Sunset Rubdown and Handsome Furs have both played the Triangle and released excellent albums of their own in the past few years. Wolf Parade usually plays Cat’s Cradle, who are sponsoring this show. It has sold out both times they have played the venue. This will be their first appearance in Raleigh.
Wolf Parade’s new album will be called
At Mount Zoomer (Pitchfork just announced the 100% name confirmation) and is projected to be out on June 17 on Sub Pop Records (album art below). That gives you over a month to listen on repeat before the show. Show is July 29th and tickets will be on Sale Friday May 2nd. Hey, that’s the same day that Wilco Tickets Go On Sale.
Modern world, I’m not pleased to meet you. You just bring me down….
