If you have a tree leftover from the holidays and don’t have a home composting system, luckily the City of Raleigh can help make sure that your tree finds a new home, as mulch. You can then turn around and buy the mulch back from the city at a later date.
If you bought your tree from a local farmer from the State Farmer’s Market, this will indeed be a great Cradle to Cradle way to see that the tree and its products stay in our local economy and environment.
Raleigh residents getting rid of their Christmas trees should place them at the curb with regular yard waste on their scheduled collection day.
Be sure to remove all bags, stands, lights, tinsel, ornaments and other non-vegetative items from the tree before placing it at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day. Do not put trees at the curbside prior to your collection day. Artificial trees being discarded should be disassembled and placed in the garbage cart.
The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department recycles natural Christmas trees into wood chips and mulch. The products are sold to the general public at the City’s Yard Waste Center, 900 N. New Hope Road. For more information, contact the Yard Waste Center at 250-2728.

“Holy” is a BOT with a SPAM SITE attached. Is anyone at the switch here at newraleigh or are you just going to let this spamming (and it’s not just “holy” either, “holy” is the cleverest one yet) overrun your site?
Matt,
We are working on the Spam comments. I’ve closed all that ‘Holy’ got in and we have some changes coming to the site that will prevent a lot of the spam. Thanks for the comment.
