The new Convention Center in downtown Raleigh is really coming together as the Grand Opening in conjunction with Raleigh Wide Open III draws nearer.

As we announced last week, the Shimmer Wall at the Raleigh Convention Center in Downtown Raleigh has started installation.  Almost a week later and the pace has picked up on the construction of one of the largest public art projects in the area and we have photos and video below the fold.

Installation started today on the Raleigh Convention Center’s Shimmer Wall. Six panels so far on the first bay with many to come.  79,464 aluminum ‘pixels’ will compose this 9,000+ s.f. LED backlit art installation wall. Click through for more.

We brought you the first look at the original Pugh+Scarpa/Clearscapes designs for Raleigh’s anticipated Contemporary Art Museum (CAM). Last night, a new set of plans was revealed to the public—at least the fourth different scheme we’ve seen in the past few years.

Triangle Modernist Houses held its inaugural Modernist Mini-Tour on May 17th in Durham. The tour featured three houses designed by three of North Carolina’s prominent modernist architects. Spanning fifty years of design, the public was treated to a glimpse of the past and present of modernism in North Carolina. Click through for recap and images…
