Triangle Modernist Houses held its inaugural Modernist Mini-Tour on May 17th in Durham. The tour featured three houses designed by three of North Carolina’s prominent modernist architects. It has been sixty years since The College of Design started as the School of Design in 1948- beginning with two programs- architecture and landscape architecture. Three years later industrial design was added, followed by graphic design and an arts program later.

Welcome to The Circle: a small looped residential pocket in the Bloomsbury subdivision of the Five Points Neighborhood. Our subject is a 2004 renovation to a 1930’s bungalow that makes a striking contemporary addition to the rear of the house, almost completely hidden from the street.
