It has been sixty years since The College of Design started as the School of Design in 1948- beginning with two programs- architecture and landscape architecture. Three years later industrial design was added, followed by graphic design and an arts program later.

Welcome to The Circle: a small looped residential pocket in the Bloomsbury subdivision of the Five Points Neighborhood. Our subject is a 2004 renovation to a 1930’s bungalow that makes a striking contemporary addition to the rear of the house, almost completely hidden from the street.
The spire was added this morning to the top of the RBC Centura Bank Tower in Downtown Raleigh. This means that the building has officially reached its tallest point of 538 feet. Now the fun part (infill) begins. Click through for slideshow.
The Triangle Chapter of the AIA North Carolina held its annual Design Awards Banquet and Lecture last week. Robert Hull, who is nationally renowned for his regionalist architecture with Miller Hull Partnership, chaired the awards jury and gave the lecture Tuesday night in Downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District. The past year has been an interesting one for the new Contemporary Art Museum in Downtown Raleigh. Proposals were made for a new complex just before the condo boom slowed down. Money was tight, so they decided to have a benefit party at a mall? All that said, tonight, CAM will host it’s first event, The AIA-Triangle Awards Banquet and Lecture, in years at its current location in the warehouse district. The public is invited, so bring your best black outfit and check out some of the best architecture in the region.
