Arts News in Raleigh

This month’s First Friday has a nice variety of offerings.  From Pro/Con’s poignant offering at Rebus works (with Scott Goner performing), to Art Space’s silent auction preview, there is plenty to see.  Also exciting is VAE’s Found Object/ Graffiti Show, and Lump’s exhibition of Canadian artist Jason de Haan. Design Box hosts a show of young artists inspired by Bob Rankin. And Flanders 311 has a gorgeous show of Lori Esposito’s paintings (shown above). Finally, Gallery Shibui in Cameron Village will be showing Adam Peele Prints.

This Friday graffiti artists unleash on Visual Art Exchange for a night of deviance.

Fans of contemporary craft have until November 2nd to see the work of Bulldog Pottery in the Nature Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the Museum Shop at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Click through for details and a slide show of their fine studio craft.

There is was a new addition to the view from Raleigh’s Boylan Bridge, a towering angry face on an industrial hopper with “U LIVE AND YOU BURN” scrawled across the bottom. Why the scowl? 

Works of HeArt is a Public Art auction benefiting The Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina.  It starts tomorrow with a public preview at 11 am and a silent auction starting at 6 at the Progress Energy Center.  Come out and get a good price on talented local artists, while helping AIDS victims in the Carolinas.
