News in Raleigh

May’s Local Beer, Local Band Schedule has a handful of names that Downtown Raleigh knows well.  Some of these bands have performed at Tir Na Nog before, but many have not.  It will be a great month of Thursday night Rock N Roll at Tir Na Nog.

Sad news for the modernists in our audience (and staff).  GoGoRaleigh brings us word that Cherry is closing.  Cherry was the only dealer of brands like Alessi, Knoll, Cassina, Kartell, and Blue Dot between Washington DC and Atlanta.  Louis Cherry,  a local architect and his wife Ann Marie Baum opened the store, originally on Glenwood Avenue, then moved to Cameron Village last spring. 

We told you before that we thought Hatem might be marrying Samantha Smith. Well we were ‘premature’ you might say.

Another new business is coming soon to Raleigh via Glenwood South.  Enriching the string of freestanding businesses that line the west side of Glenwood leading up to the Mellow Mushroom, Brooklyn Heights Bar will provide a hip and comfortable alternative to the establishments across the street that draw business up inside the neighboring mixed-use mid-rise buildings from the 90’s.  More…

Saturday may be stormy and tickets for the Beer Fest may have sold out long ago.  Sounds like the perfect day to check out Far From Home at NCMA.
