Ok ok, we at NR ignore a ton of Triangle shows - we want to be all about Raleigh.  But last week Meeker endorsed Obama, and while NR won’t endorse a presidential candidate- we will endorse this concert.  Arcade Fire and Superchunk are playing the Carrboro Obama rally next weekend for FREE.  They are also playing the day before in Greensboro.

The most interesting architectural enhancement of NC State’s east campus is certainly not the new Mathematics and Statistics building (presently underway in what used to be the Riddick parking lot). Instead, the buzz is about the surprising design/build study in the heart of the College of Design, erected in the past two weeks by a class of junior architecture students.

Koka Booth Amphitheatre has slowly released their summer schedule and it looks like they have saved the best for the end of the season.  On Friday, August 8th, Wilco will land in the Triangle for the first time since 2006 when lead singer Jeff Tweedy played the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Matt Lively, who currently has a show at Adam Cave Fine Art in Raleigh, will be on our local NPR station’s show, The State of Things, today at 12 noon.

Sir Isaac Hunter’s Tavern set the precedent 230 years ago and last night, Tir na Nog filled in where city founders left off so long ago.  From designers, to planners, to bloggers, to council members, to realtors, to concerned citizens, all types were represented at the first, yet well attended, charrette in Downtown Raleigh for the 2030 plan.
