The City Council just approved the Cameron Village Mixed Use Project that was opposed by many residents living in neighborhoods around the project. Now those residents have formed a website to collect information and catalog the milestones relevant to the project. Residents are angry for many reasons, concerned over the infrastructure impact of such a large project as well as the possiblity of monstrosities like a 12 story parking garage.

Across McDowell from the Shimmer wall tonight at 8:45, Mayor Meeker and the CEO of Cree will light the shimmer wall up, officially. Even though we covered it last week with pictures, Cree has to get their 1,000,000 s worth of press so tonight is the private government ceremony. Here’s hoping they get a big Frankenstein style switch.

After being padlocked recently by Wake County, the speculative space in downtown Raleigh that was supposed to house the new incarnation of Waraji looks to be available for lease. Sad news for sushi lovers.
The Boylan Bridge Brewpub has been creeping along under construction for months. The opening date has been postponed once and they are going to miss all the Raleigh Wide Open III traffic this weekend. But, good news has surfaced this week, they now have a restaurant manager. Whoo hooo! Now they just need someone to brew the beer.
