DOT Way-finding Woes

Many people find the Inner and Outer Beltline signs too complicated, not grasping that I-440 is simply a loop with the Inner Beltline running clockwise and the Outer Beltline running counter clockwise around downtown. Under the new plan in coming months, Inner and Outer will be replaced with East and West. More below...

Parade of Homes (Literally)

Two of Raleigh’s oldest and most historic buildings will be on the move from 8:30 to noon, this Saturday, August 23rd. As part of the Blount Street Commons project, the Merriom-Wynne and Hume houses will be moved from their existing sites to new locations on the adjoining blocks. The three hour procession of these turn-of-the-century homes will be filmed by National Geographic to be featured on the show “Monster Moves.” Click through to read more and see the full sized diagram.

Tift Merritt and Paintings Under The Stars

At 8pm this Saturday, August 23, 2008, grammy nominated singer-songwriter Tift Merritt will perform as a part of the Arts in the Museum Park concert series. Gates open at 6, so show up early to see “Paintings Under the Stars,” a painting exhibition of NC LowDefPop artists organized by Onion Head Monster artist, Paul Friedrich.
