This 5K “Run"was organized to honor Sadiki Young, a senior at Wakefield High who was killed as a passenger in a drunk driving car accident on January 14, 2007. The race will start at Christ Church, follow Edenton and Hillsborough Streets to the NCSU Bell Tower and then double back to finish at Christ Church. Proceeds will benefit the Youth Endowment Fund, started in Sadiki’s honor, at Christ Church where he was an acolyte. Proceeds will also go toward the Wakefield High “Think First” Program, an alcohol awareness program for teenagers.
This will be my first 5K race, so I’m keeping my personal expectations in check. This is a great and worthy cause and I’ll be out there to enjoy the (hopefully nice) weather and scenery. It will also be a good opportunity to get a new perspective on the Morgan Street round-about situation!
Meatloaf had a hit song call “Two out of Three (Ain’t Bad).
I will call this one “(Two out of Three) Is Bad”.

The Old Spice Classic is an annual college basketball tournament played over Thanksgiving and the days that follow. The first tournament occurred last year, so it is fairly new. The tournament is played at The Milk House at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. I had hoped that NC State got over their playing-time issues to come together as a team and use the fuel from their 2 point loss to New Orleans to come in and represent NC State, not themselves. About a week ago, most of NC State’s fan base were still pining about that lost to New Orleans. I was with them, but I knew a loss like that would really kick the team in its butt and give them the fuel to take the Old Spice Classic. How about that ‘Pack?
