Verses Jeans is no longer. Following a trademark dispute with another line of jeans, Victor Lytvinenko and Sarah Yarborough made a quick rebranding to Raleigh Denim. With the new name the young entrepreneurs are making a commitment to the city in an exciting way. These high end jeans are already sold in some the most exclusive boutiques around the world, going forward as their distribution spreads, our city’s name will be on some of the best dressed asses around. K-Mart on The Screw
Cha Ching: It’s enough to make you think there is something malicious going on. Last week the Capital Boulevard K-Mart was fined for the 7th time by the The North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services. The eighth time that the big-box store has not met the inspection criteria. Inspectors fail a store when 2 percent of items purchased scanning for more than they are priced on the shelf. Taz’s Downtown Market Opens
Taz has an idea about the future of downtown Raleigh and a great one at that. “What if I took your modern suburban supermarket, broke it into four different stores and spread them around in Downtown Raleigh” he stated on Friday. Taz already has one of the four pieces in place and the second one had its soft opening this weekend and will officially open, this Friday, July 4th.
Whole Foods Coming To North Raleigh
Foodies in North Raleigh can rejoice today. Word comes that Whole Foods is coming to Northern Six Forks at its intersection with Strickland. While not definite the N&O says “Regency said it is in final negotiations with the grocer, and all indications point toward Whole Foods as the tenant.” If things go as planned the store should be open for 2010.

Holly Aiken Bags Resurface at Cat Banjo
As we reported in April, Holly Aiken closed her Glenwood South storefront. The Stitch sign has been taken down and the space is now for rent. Luckily for local bag connoisseurs, a large selection of new Aiken’s bags (in summer colors) are available at Cat Banjo in Cameron Village.

Crabtree Valley Mall has been able to reinvent itself repeatedly over the years. Now we are seeing new age brands like Lush and Teavana are coming to the mall, continuing the mall’s push upscale. Lush is a Canadian eco-conscious cosmetics and soap company that uses natural whole ingredients to make natural products. Teavana is a tea shop with a wide selection of fine tea and tea products. Also coming to the mall, Try Sports, a high-end sports product store that will be installed under the Belks Mens location.
