Conveniently located on Hargett St. next to The Raleigh Times, and with new evening hours, Morning Times is a downtown favorite. The small outdoor space runs right over the sidewalk and onto the street, so that you can't pass it by without taking in chitchat among customers and baristas, but the cafe can accommodate the morning coffee rush without feeling cramped, due to its large storefront windows and “In” and “Out” doors through which customers cycle efficiently. In addition to the few tables alongside the busy mosaic countertop, you'll find a lounge upstairs that doubles as an art gallery, showcasing local talent monthly against the exposed brick walls. With window seating and comfortable couches, you'll pass your time pleasurably, by making conversation, reading, or surfing on the complementary wi-fi. Commanding a cherry-red espresso machine, the baristas have perfected a wide range of espresso drinks. You can also purchase drip coffee and beans by bulk from Carrboro Coffee Company, or opt for loose-leaf tea or a beer. With sandwiches, salads, fruits, bagels, cookies, and pastries, it is a great place for a quick bite and stands out as yet another downtown jewel courtesy of Empire Eats.
Yummy sandwiches and wonderful smiling service. They also have a pristine white upstairs with tables by the windows and comfy couches. And if you’re an artist, make sure you leave your mark on their bulletin board in the back!
Good coffee, friendly service…
I love that they are always friendly. I usually get the chai which is house-made and I think the syrups are also house-made. The cookies are really good and I love the tuna salad sandwich. I stop by every time I’m downtown for work, etc.
I get a cappuccino almost every work-day, and it is always a delightful experience.
