Terrible service, cold food. Yeah, it was New Year’s Day but they were purposefully ignoring us and the folks next to us at the bar. Hope they don’t linger too long.
we were so excited about this place but in our four tries we have decided that we’ve given them enough of our money and time.
1. I went with an adult friend and we had drinks and a decent veggie meal, but service was inexplicable slow…half empty place, staff chatting way too long at the bar, but I wrote it off to a newly opened place on an off night…
2.we went with our two adorable and perfectly well-behaved children and chose to sit at the window so they could people watch and disturb the other diners less. The staff was slow to get to us, slow to offer us what we needed, never brought us second beers. Note to all wait staff everywhere: parents with children will keep drinking as long as their children are sitting and munching! Keep the beer coming and you’ll be rewarded! $$$
3. See #2. We are slow to learn and the food is decent.
4. We went with our children and were totally ignored even though I got up twice and went to the bar and mentioned that we needed to place an order, etc. We would have left but there was a freak summer rainstorm and my children were sitting peacefully (see #2) so we had high hopes for a delish lunch. At one point the table right behind us even commented on the fact that the wait staff was ignoring us. It was blatant, staff turning their heads to face the wall as they walked by.
We have heard from several friends (with children) that this is the way the staff works and and ex-staff member told my husband at a party that they “didn’t want it to be a place people brought kids.”
What? Breeders gotta eat AND we generally come at hours when the rest of the world isn’t yet clamoring for lunch (11:30) or dinner (5:00) And we actually tip really well if we get moderately decent service.
So, instead we dine out 3-5x a week at Sitti, Busy Bee, Market and other downtown places that aren’t hostile.
We look forward to whatever eventually takes the place of Remedy. Hopefully it will have a decent veg menu.
Ilove their food. Great combinations with the sandwiches and even the breakfast. Smoked gouda grits! Love the spicey turkey sandwich and the hot ham sandwich. The salsa and chips as a side is a nice change.
I really enjoyed the food when I visited this restaurant and it will be great for meeting out for dinner with our vegan friends - there are not a lot of restaurants with a decent vegan menu, good beer selection, and breakfast all day.
Basically just a sandwich place, but they are tasty sandwiches! I had the spicy turkey, which was piled with meat and fresh jalapenos, not the canned, pickled variety. The side salad was also really good - large portion for the price and had lots of veggies beside just lettuce. Sandwiches are served with tortilla chips and pico de gallo. Unfortunately they don’t give you much pico, but it is fresh and on the hot side of the spectrum. Stone IPA was on draft, which is one of my favorites. I would go back. It’s primarily a lunch spot but also good for light dinners.
i am always stoked when new places open that have two things: good vegetarian options and a good beer selection. ate here for lunch one day got the vegetarian meatball sub w/ fries - awesome. i was on my lunch break, so i couldnt drink beer - boo. this weekend me, my wife, two year old, a friend and her two daughters went there after going to bain and artsplosure. when i got the table and told the waitress we had three kids with us she looked at me and said VERY sarcastically “awesome” and walked away. i saw they had Aviator Triple on tap, which i had been wanting to try. apparently i got the last pint, but not so fast. when i tasted it it was very hoppy. the only other beer on tap was the Stone IPA. there mustnt have been enough Aviator to fill the pint, so, she ACTUALLY topped it off with an IPA. seriouslty?!? triples are not hoppy, i dont care who makes them. what a bunch of bullshit. this waitress, apparently, didnt like us, because halfway through our meal we got different one, who was much more friendly.
this is a cool place, but some of the staff could use an attitude adjustment. maybe we would have been worthy if we had worn our mix-matched vintage clothes and rode in on our fixed-gear bikes.
Sorry that this “sad vegetarian” had a bad experience, but I thought the Remedy was a terrific place. I ordered—and received—the vegan chicken salad sandwich and it was excellent, as was the accommodating and attentive service.
They fed me real chicken…it was like the unfunniest birthday joke ever. I was really looking forward to vegan chicken salad sandwich. I kinda cried a little bit.
-Very sad sad vegetarian
