The Borough has a clean, refined look with warm lighting and mod furniture. On weeknights it adopts the quiet, smooth vibe of a lounge, but come Friday the place fills nicely, emitting good tunes and a solid buzz. There’s a sizable street-side patio, but the best way to enjoy a cool night is under the warm glow of the interior, perched on a low stool or crowded around a table with four or five friends. Be sure to order an appetizer; the browned hushpuppies with sweet buttery spread, tomato bisque, black bean and corn salsa, and quesadillas are all beyond satisfying.

A word to the wise: The Borough is a trifle posher than your average single-dollar-sign bar. It’s still this side of Solas, but you might feel out of place in jeans and a t-shirt (or, at the least, upstaged by The Borough’s often metrosexual crowd). Also, some of the staff can be bristly, but with good food and good atmosphere, who cares? It almost adds to the charm.

The Borough sits conveniently on the corner of Morgan and Dawson Streets, right across from Upchurch Parking Deck, where you can park for free after 7PM and on weekends.

$2 PBR always on draft
half-price appetizers 4-7PM on weekdays
poker on Wednesday

Plenty of vegetarian options available.

Interesting sandwiches and lighter fare plus nice selection of beer (with rotating guest tap).  The house made black bean burger topped with sauteed ‘shrooms and light, crispy fried onions was DELISH!  Thankfully I saved room for the dessert du jour: apple pie with a scoop of vanilla.

Love it!!! Great atmosphere, awesome service, and excellent food for not a whole lot of money.  It’s a great place drinks and food with friends.  Owner Lizzy always makes you feel welcomed.

Everything on the menu is good. Simple, nothing fancy, but just done well and always tasty. Plenty of places around offer similar menu items, but don’t do them as well as the Borough. It’s definitely a great place that I am always happy to go to, and everyone is friendly.

This place has great comfort food! Love the uberWisconsin and the drinks are great. Try the How Do You Q!! The staff are very friendly!

Great bar food.  Good service.  Great little neighborhood watering hole.  4 stars—-I’ll give them 5 when they join the 21st century and get rid of the smoking.  wink

The half price appetizers are a great value - I especially like the black bean salsa. Staff are very friendly.
