Rockford does not seat parties larger than eight. They do not allow reservations and seat on a first-come-first-serve basis, and do not host private parties. But the food and atmosphere is awesome!

The Cubana rocks there at the Rockford.  I have been going there for years and am glad to see it back with the same menu.  You should go check it out if you heve never been.

Sunday hours are 5:30-10.  not starting at 5.

Oh and I love the rockford.  It’s a staple in Raleigh.  Great atmosphere, and great food.  I love that they change the menu up every once in a while - but always keep their classics.  (and non smoking now! smile

The servers are always friendly, very casual and laid back - which if you are in a hurry could be an issue.

Great prices too!

The food was good, and the sides were fresh. You feel kinda badass eating here, because only someone who is looking for it can find it! The atmosphere is really nice.

I enjoy the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant

I’ve always enjoyed the Rockford—good food, atmosphere, decent prices, etc.—but we had an odd and unpleasant experience Saturday that makes me unlikely to return very soon. If you’ll notice above, the lunch hours are listed in this bolg as “Mon-Sat (11:30 am-2:30 pm ).” Turns out, this is a mistake: they stop seating at 2:00. Sharp. Very sharp. My wife, son and I arrived at about 2:05 last Saturday afternoon. We made it about 3/4 of the way up the stairs when a Rockford employee blocked the top of the stairs and said, “we’re closed.” My wife replied, “I was afraid of that. We went on line, on the New Raleigh website, and it said you served until 2:30, but we just saw the hours listed on your door as 11:30—2:00.” She said this very politely, as we headed back down the stairs; we were aware that it was a mistake, and perfectly willing to make note for future reference. But the Rockford employee seemed not in the least concerned with our inconvenence, or our desire to patronize his restaurant, or the possibility that others might do the same thing. “We aren’t responsible for that,” he said, with obvious annoyance.” “Oh, I understand,” she replied. “I just thought you might want to know so you can get it corrected.” She thought letting him know where she found the incorrect information would be appreciated, and that he would agree it was worth trying to get this changed to prevent future problems. Further, whether his fault or not, it certainly wasn’t ours. Prospective patrons of his restaurant were inconvenienced, and turned away from the door; at the very least, she thought he’d offer an apology for our inconvenience and invite us to return another time. She was wrong on both counts. All he cared about was that he make it perfectly clear that it was in no way his fault. “Like I said, that’s not our responsibility. We don’t have anything to do with what it says on New Raleigh,” he reiterated. We left the Rockford certain of two things: First, it isn’t their fault that the hours listed on New Raliegh are wrong, and second, they don’t really give a damn about us as customers. So, instead, we went to Tobacco Road. It was our first time there,  and we received excellent service and surprisingly good food. It is a small thing, but when we have options, we prefer to patronize businesses that appreciate our patronage.

I really do like the Rockford… good, wholesome, filling dishes at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is great; you feel like you’ve found someone’s secret club. BUT more often than not I am disappointed by the service. I have waitstaff be unfriendly, short, even patronizing. I know what it’s like to be a waitress, so I know there is NO reason for some of them to act like they do. That’s why I haven’t been back in a while. Good bartenders, though.
