Our next stop finds us in Lawrence, Kansas.  This wasn’t on our original list of places to go, but while in Omaha, Megafaun suggested we join them in Kansas.  They were playing a show there and promised us it would be worth it.  They were even planning an epic post-show cookout for us, with beer, beards, and bratwurst.

We could hear adventure calling.  So we followed…

A quick three-hour drive later, we were sitting in a house a block from downtown Lawrence, drinking beer and playing through our stop-motion videos with Megafaun.

After exploring the Lawrence strip and eating some noodles, we met back up with Megafaun at the Replay Lounge.  The venue was incredible!  Neon illustrations, black lights, pinball machines, red millennium falcons hanging from the ceiling… it felt like we were all in a comic book.  Tim challenged Megafaun’s Brad to a pinball game, one on one.  Brad proceeded to own Tim’s entire score with his first ball.  However, his Golden State Warriors jersey would have made him a winner regardless.

The opening band, Ample Branches, were great.  Their music was fun and jolly, and they were all really talented multi-instrumentalists.  Megafaun had warned us they were awesome, but we were particularly impressed.

Then Megafaun took the stage and turned the entire venue into one giant burly dance party.

We all finished the show up with a giant round of tequila, then marched back toward the Ample Branches house where we were all staying for the night.  To our surprise, the house was overflowing with people.

And so the shenanigans began.

We made lots of new friends, drank more tequila, ate lots of Doritos, and took photos of Megafaun’s beards until 5 in the morning.  A great way to spend a night in Kansas.  Thanks, Lawrence!
