It started with a perfectly prepared dry Grey Goose Martini as usual for me while the rest of the group opted for a dark berry, almost fruity Malbec from Argentina. So good that two more bottles flowed through the dinner. Appetizers consisted of a creamy spinach dip served with toasts and fried onion rings that just melted in your mouth. Not greasy at all and fried to a beautiful golden brown. inue with the green theme and ordered a wonderful spinach salad. The group went for the Ribs (why else do you come to The Pitt), quantities being the only difference with one person adding a little chicken to his also. Ribs as usual fell nicely off the bone as they should when prepared by the nations number one rated Pitmaster. But the chicken always seems a little dry. Ed, I think I would skip the chicken and start with maybe a goose. Something with a little more juice/fat to begin with. Wait staff are great. Wine list is good and Ed make you feel right at home!
I had not heard about The Pit until I saw “Man v. Food” on television, and I went for the first time this past Saturday. I was very impressed because I thought it would be a hole-in-the-wall but it was very nice inside! I even liked the sweet tea, which actually tasted like tea instead of pure sugar. I’ve told all of my friends to go and I hope to return soon and often.
Excellent turkey BBQ and a good beer selection. I also enjoy the different fruit infused bourbons they serve in some of the signature drinks.
I am sorry. This place is going out of business if they don’t get their act together. We waited 20 minutes to be seated with a confirmed reservation. It took the bar literally another 20 minutes to get our drinks to us. I was drinking Maker’s Mark on the rocks!! My brisket was overcooked and almost $20. Please. If you want BBQ, go to QShack or McCall’s. For gourmet southern food, go to Poole’s. They have finally gotten their act together. Well-prepared, reasonably-priced, and consistently delicious food.
The Pit has a beer selection as varied and premium as it BBQ. While steadily busy, you can often catch a quiet afternoon meal for a relaxing, southern BBQ experience. The atmosphere and service also live up to the quality of the food, weather you are old south or a carpetbagger, the Pit should provide the upscale southern comfort food you are looking for.
A great dining experience for lunch and dinner. Usually quite quick. The only problem I every have is that the sides are sometimes not consistent. Overall, a great place.
