Announced today on their website, the Boylan Bridge Brewpub will finally open its doors on August 25, 2008. The construction will soon wind down and the beers will be flowing, on top of the bridge, with one of the best views of downtown. Full announcement and current photos below the fold.
As of February 20, 2008, Yancy’s had a debt of almost $270,000. Today Yancy’s shut their doors, with workers kicking and screaming for money owed to them, or at least a check that wouldn’t bounce. Meanwhile, Yancy sat outside smoking a cigar, contemplating how to celebrate the 4th of July. ABC reports, “Yancy’s front doors are locked—closed for business.”
Riviera Resto has been open for over 2 years now and just in the past year they have opened their upstairs and downstairs. The restaurant works as as a lunch and dinner spot with fine dining on the main floor and basement. Upstairs initially started as a dance club of sorts but has now switched to a more bar and lounge based atmosphere called Loft 135.

Raleigh has great independent pizza: Lily’s, Amore’s, Moonlight, Vic’s, and Capital Creations. Still, downtown has had a serious gap in places to quickly grab a quality slice, until now. Martin Street Pizza opened its doors this week, and after an initial visit, I am confident this pizzeria is here to stay.
